Literacy Tutors

How can I help?

The Literacy Department is in need of tutors. Tutors work one-to-one with learners, helping them improve their reading and writing skills. Volunteer tutors are matched to adult learners after an initial training. Tutors are required to meet with their learners at least once a week over six months time.

When you become a tutor, you're not only helping a person improve their reading and writing skills, you're giving one of your most precious gifts to your community - your time.

Some of the rewards you'll enjoy are helping someone improve their skills, self esteem and involvement in the community. Tutoring an adult starts you on a wonderful journey that helps you, too.

When you help someone overcome a barrier like poor reading skills, you discover things about yourself that you never knew - you're a teacher, a mentor and a problem solver.

Call us at (818)548-6450 or EMAIL US for more information.
